Hi! My name is Billy Ray, and I am the rescue you have been waiting for! I am a gentle, loving spirit looking for a loving forever family of my very own. I'm so glad I found rescue! It has given me a new lease on life - and now I understand that people are capable of giving and receiving love.
In my old life, I was made to live outdoors and act as a sentry. I never knew what it was to have a family or to feel the warmth glow of praise and affection lavished upon me. One day my "owner" rounded me up along with the other dogs I lived with and dumped us all off at the shelter in Deming. I've never been so scared in my life! It took some work, but I made my way into Dachshund Rescue - and I found a terrific foster family in El Paso who love me like I'm their very own. They've shown me I can trust all people, regardless of gender and age. Now I crave human attention and affection. I'm content to be near you - to snuggle and provide an ear for you to talk to. Foster Mommy Virgie, Foster Daddy, and their daughters can't say enough good things about me.
If you let me, I will serenade you. My heart gets all achey-breakey when you go away to work or the store, but I'm the happiest little Dachshund in the world when you return. I'm told I have the prettiest eyes - they change colors. Sometimes they look more brown, other times they are a bright blue - and if the light catches them just right they become the most beautiful shade of teal.
Will you be the sunshine of my life and give me a loving forever home I can call my very own? Will you be my Forever Mommy and / or Forever Daddy??? Please contact Janeen (moxiedachsie@gmail.com) for your Application for Adoption right away!
Fireball

Name: Fireball
Breed: Dachshund (AKC registered)
Size: Tweenie
Age: 16 months
Gender: Male
Color: Red
Source: Las Cruces, NM (Owner Surrender)
Hi! My name is Fireball and I'm a happy, playful bundle of energy! I do REALLY well with other dogs (Dachshunds especially) - one can never have too many friends after all, and I like cats as long as they come served with BBQ sauce. Foster Mommy lectures me when I bark at and chase after cats, but for all I know they could be a badger in disguise. When cats puff up and decide to run, what else am I supposed to think? Aren't they playing chase???
I'm very smart - I do all my potties outside in the yard where they belong. I sit on command (I just love the praise and training treats I receive as a reward - it's the greatest!), and I've been learning how to lay down. I still jump because I'm a puppy, but Foster Mommy is helping me with that so I will have a long and healthy life. My birth mommy and daddy were Miniatures - not certain what happened exactly, but I'm what she calls a "Tweenie". She doesn't think there is anything wrong with that, and since I've been "tutored", I can't compete for AKC Confirmation anyways. I'm the perfect size for me.
I'm VERY dependent upon other dogs - I'm the kind of boy who needs companionship, after all, and I have a very gentle disposition. My tummy is very sensitive, so most treats are a no-no, but Foster Mommy has figured out which ones are good for me. I'm just very special - what can I say. (Foster Sister Tinker Belle is food sensitive, too, and it's not a problem at all shopping for just the right treats). Foster Mommy has an approved (and disapproved) treat list for me so it will make things much easier for my Forever Mommy and Forever Daddy to take care of me.
Do you have room for me in your heart and home (and at least one other dog - preferrably a Dachshund - for me to play with)??? If so, please contact my Foster Mommy, Janeen (moxiedachsie@gmail.com) for more information.

HI!!! My name is Schroeder and I'm little. My story begins in a far away place called Ruidoso. My old family stopped in at the shelter there one day over the Thanksgiving holiday and found me anxiously waiting for a family to love me. I was very nervous - and very scared, but then all of a sudden I was someone's baby again.
In that home I had a Dachshund sister and a brother cat waiting for me. Although sister wasn't much into playing, I sure did have a blast wrestling with the cat. He was my best friend. He would chase me, then I would chase him. Sometimes he would beat me at wrestling and other times I would beat him. Life couldn't have been any better - or so I thought. Well - there were some accidents in the house and my "daddy" decided it was all my fault and said I had to go away. I was SO confused and even more scared! I didn't know WHAT was going to happen to me. They called a group called Dachshund Rescue and Foster Mommy Janeen came to my old house to meet me. She was very nice and gentle with me. She offered my family suggestions for correcting the accidents (I was the new kid on the block - and I didn't do it all alone...), but it was too late. Daddy didn't want to be my daddy any more. (Okay - I admit it - I pee'd on the cat - ONCE - but he cheated! It's not like I attacked him - he was my best friend).
Anyway - Foster Mommy Janeen took me into her heart and home right before Christmas and I've been training her ever since. When I'm sad she cuddles with me, and sometimes we have quality "ice cream therapy" time - just the two of us. She plays with me and buys me the BEST toys. I try to trick her, but she's fast - and sneaky, too! My most favorite toy in the whole world is my Air Kong dumbell. It squeaks!!! I don't like harsh or stern corrections - just a simple "No. We don't do that." explanation is good enough for me.
Although I think I have one already, Foster Mommy says I'm looking for an extra special and wonferfully loving Forever Home. Will you be my Forever Mommy / Daddy??? I promise to try my very best to be the best Dachshund I can possibly be - to listen when you need to talk - and to bring a smile to your face and to your heart every day. Oh - I also promise to try REALLY hard to avoid marking in the house (please understand - I've been bounced around a LOT lately and I'm very insecure. I need to feel I have a place I can call my very own - FOREVER).
Love,
Schroeder XOXOXO
I almost forgot. If you think I'm the most adorable and irresistable little Dachsie boy you've ever seen in your life and you would like to invite me into your heart and home, please contact my Foster Mommy, Janeen (moxiedachsie@gmail.com). Thank you!

Name: Ginger
Breed: Dachshund
Size: Miniature / Tweenie
Age: 2 years old (approximately)
Gender: Female
Color: Red (a rich, deep mahogany red)

My name is Ginger and I'm one of the newest additions to rescue. I'm what the shelter called a "stray at large" - I was picked up while out for a nice stroll down the Boulevard one day and was told my family had three days to come find me at the shelter, but they never made it. I don't know why they didn't come for me. I'm a VERY smart little Dachshund! My family had already potty-trained me and I know how to come when I'm called and sit when asked. I'm told I;m an enthusiastic walker (I think I would be a wonderful sled dog!), but I can work on that, too.
I was altered on Saturday and my little tummy is healing while Foster Mommy Jane takes really good care of me. She has other dogs at her house, and I LIVE to play. It's the greatest!!! I like to be kept busy - I'm young and energetic - and I've recently discovered that cheewies (cow hooves) are the greatest objects in the world! I'm very affectionate and I like to bestow kisses on the humans in my life. I can be a bit of a 'wiggle worm' if you try to hold me still. I can't help it. My tail starts to move and it just sort of rolls forward from there until my entire body is wiggling with wreckless abandon.
If you think I'm the perfect, sassy little Dachsie girl for you, please contact Janeen (moxiedachsie@gmail.com) today! I have a sneaking suspicion I won't be in rescue for long!

Age: 7 - 8 years of age
Gender: Female

Hi! My name is Peanut and I'm in need of a loving Forever Home where I can be the princess of all I survey. After finding myself at the shelter last week (week of February 15th), I began to feel pretty bad about a lot of things. Although they tried to make me as comfortable as they could, I was scared and I wanted to go home. I woke up one day to find I had an oowie on my tummy, and I developed a bit of an infection.
Foster Mommy Rosaline and Foster Daddy Bill decided to take me home from the shelter and they have lovingly nursed me back to health. I'm a spoiled little girl! I get gourmet meals with ground beef and chicken breast, and all kinds of broths. I get Pedialyte to keep up my electrolytes.
The infection I had is all gone now. I feel MUCH better thanks to my Foster Mommy and Daddy, and I told them today I wanted some dog food and plain water. I've got my strength back, now, and I'm ready to start interviewing my potential Forever Homes! I want a bed with lots of blankets. I want fresh, cool water to drink, and a top-quality dog food on which to dine (Avoderm or Innova will be fine). I want toys I can squeak, and, most of all - I WANT YOU!!!
If I sound like the perfect little Dachshund / Chihuahua mix to you, please contact either my Foster Daddy (teetee5225@yahoo.com) or Janeen (moxiedachsie@gmail.com) TODAY!!! Hurry, hurry!!! Don't delay!!!
